Brownies Help to Plant Trees

THE Isle of Wight’s Lord-Lieutenant planted a tree alongside Island brownies in Newport on Tuesday 25th October as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

Of the 350 Silver Birch trees that formed the Tree of Trees statue outside Buckingham Palace during the Jubilee celebrations, the Isle of Wight has been gifted two of the trees.  The first one was planted by the Lord-Lieutenant at Pan Meadows Country Park with the help of Brownies from 10th Newport

The tree was illuminated on June 2 as the first in the chain of 1,500 beacons lit across the UK and Commonwealth for the last weekend of platinum jubilee celebrations.
