On Wednesday 19th April 2023, the Duchess of Gloucester visited the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Susan Sheldon greeted Her Royal Highness at the West Wight Dementia Friendly choir. Here, she spent time with members of the choir, and listening to the choir sing.
The Duchess then went on to the newly built Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Station, taking a guided tour of the new facility, meeting the operational staff members and teams behind the running of the service, and officially opening the new facility.
The Duchess then visited Home-Start IOW, a voluntary organisation that offers support to parents and carers with at least one child under five to help them with the challenges of family life.
Following her visit to Home-Start IOW, the Duchess headed over to the Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club to show her support to the Island Games team who are travelling to compete in Guernsey later on in the year. She gave thanks on behalf of the Island Game Association by presenting locally made pieces of glass, to the two main sponsors who have provided support to the team over many years. ICR TOUCH who have sponsored the Kits and Red Funnel who have sponsored the team travel.
